A day Belgium will not forget for years to come. A day in which 28 people lost their lives in a tragic accident as their bus hit a tunnel wall in Switzerland on their way home from a ski-trip. A day in which 22 children, aged 11-12 years old, are lost forever. A day in which 6 adults' lives are suddenly cut short. A day which leaves a little country devastated, united in grief and loss.

Today we had a day of mourning and at 11am everywhere people fell silent and held the deceased, the wounded and their families in their thoughts. Cars, busses, bikes... had attached either a black ribbon or a white one to sideview mirrors, antenna's or wherever it was possible to attach it to show their compassion and sympathy.

I attached a white ribbon to my car. I didn't think my bosses would go along with the moment of silence at 11am but they did ask for it, and it was quite eerie to hear a busy office suddenly fall silent. My sister works at the airport and she was right on top of it as she had to let the 28 cars that would carry the coffins from the airport to their hometowns pass. And then at 11am she saw an entire airport fall silent while people stood in front of the windows facing the airport's mortuary.

I watched the late night news, and saw what she was talking about... that many cars carrying small white coffins, and 6 chestnut coffins... that's... it's not something you see every day.

These kids and their chaperones were from two different schools, one in Heverlee (Leuven) and one in Lommel (which is like the next town where I live - I go to the cinema in Lommel and used to go to evening school there). Lommel was hit the hardest with 17 dead.

Currently there are 3 children still in a critical condition in Swiss hospitals and from the looks of it, their prognosis isn't good.

I created a music-vid for a challenge but due to some unforeseen circumstances didn't make the deadline, which then gave me the opportunity to tweak it some more (for the better really). But anyway, true to my Stargate Atlantis nature I chose my favorite character, Kate Heightmeyer, to star in my tribute vid of sorts.

Anyway, see for yourself... clips from all 5 episodes she was in to Heart of Courage by Two Steps From Hell.

View it here if you can or on YouTube:

Calling all my Stargate-loving flisters to arms!!

If by any chance you want to have fun doing artwork, writing, playing all sorts of games within the world of the Stargate universe then get your butt in gear and join [info]stargateland.

The current battle is coming to a close but soon there will be a new round of battling and the community is looking for fresh meat members.

There are currently three overall teams - Team SG1, Team Atlantis & Team Universe. However these are no indication of which show you love. Take me -> I've never watched a single Universe episode, nor do I even like the show, and yet I'm a proud member of Team Universe.

Feel like joining me and the rest of the Stargatelanders, then click on over to THIS POST and join the ranks!

There's tumbleweed in the Teyla-thread on Gateworld - I kid you not.

Where are the Teyla-fans hiding? Have they retreated from the fandom? Is there a way to coaxe you all out of hiding?

Anyone...?

[note to reader: this post is picture heavy]

My entry in the Alt BB organized by [info]legendland .

I bring you one fanmix and one picspam.

It's about Cara's journey into becoming more than she could ever imagine, even though she's not always happy about the changes in her life. It touches upon aspects of her life with the Seeker and his friends. Little tidbits that leave a mark on her soul and very being. We get to see little pieces of the greater hole.

In order to give more information about why I chose these songs, I will give you approx. 25 images that go with these songs that show how they apply to Cara in one way or another.
